Named after master builder Thomas Cubitt, whose work helped shape Victoria into one of London’s most distinguished neighbourhoods, Thomas House reimagines a late twentieth-century office building as a contemporary workspace for The Office Group. Located within a predominantly Georgian setting, the project draws inspiration from the architectural character of nearby Eccleston Square, creating a workplace that is rooted in its context while responding to the needs of modern occupiers.

The design takes cues from Georgian planning principles, proportions and craftsmanship. A new entrance has been carefully inserted through a former portico, reinstating the building’s relationship with the street and strengthening its connection to the surrounding townscape. Inside, the grand entrance hall is organised around four timber volumes containing reception, meeting and workspaces, echoing the ordered composition of a traditional Regency square. Throughout the building, bespoke joinery, furniture and a sculptural feature stair reference the timber workshops that once occupied the site, while a series of meeting rooms reinterpret historic domestic spaces such as the drawing room, powder room and garden room.

Alongside these contextual references, the building has been comprehensively reconfigured for contemporary working. Communal spaces are positioned at the intersection of the building’s two wings, creating natural gathering points, while amenities include a library, music room, games area, gym and wellness spaces. A generous roof terrace crowns the building, offering expansive views across London and providing a social focus for the workplace community.
