Located on Great Portland Street in the heart of London’s West End, Brock House is a flexible workspace for The Office Group, contained within a rare island-like building with a rich and varied history. Originally the site of a church, the building later became the Philharmonic Hall, hosting jazz orchestras in the early twentieth century, before reopening as a grand cinema and eventually an automotive showroom. These successive layers of history provided the foundation for a workplace designed as an oasis of calm within one of London’s busiest districts.

The design draws on the golden age of car design and movie-going, blending restored architectural features with contemporary interventions. Chrome detailing, knurled metalwork and rich materials reference the building’s automotive past, while pleated curtains and warm, cinematic tones recall its former life as a cinema. Throughout the workspace, generous glazing, soft textiles and adaptable spaces create an environment that balances collaboration with quiet focus, allowing members to step away from the energy of the surrounding West End.

At the heart of the building, a Rosso Alicante marble reception desk sits within the lounge like a prized vehicle in a showroom. Beyond, a curtain-wrapped core reveals a lighter terrazzo-lined interior, while a rich burgundy palette creates rhythm and continuity throughout the floors. A mansard roof extension crowns the building, introducing light-filled amenity spaces and expansive views across London. Bespoke graphics and signage complete the scheme, reinforcing a workplace that is deeply rooted in the character and history of its setting.
